There are times in life when we want to shine. (School play. Wedding day. Collecting an MBE.) And there are times when we definitely don’t – which is most of the time, actually, if you’re talking facial shine.
Now the temperature’s risen (finally), a glisten-y face can be a real beauty woe. Make-up goes into meltdown, frankly. But this little winner from Marcia Kilgore’s Soap & Glory range does exactly what the tag-line on the packaging promises: ‘Eats shine for breakfast’.
It smooths onto the face with the accompanying velvet puff-ette – though we prefer a brush for application. (It’s possible to reapply this, too, without caking.) And unlike most powders (which settle into lines), this actually visually softens flaws and wrinkles.
Don’t ask us about the science. We’re just not interested. All we care about is that this mattifying powder does what it says on the tin.
Or rather, the witty, vintage-inspired black compact.
