A We’ve long showcased Beauty Expert on our website, because they bring together such a wide range of familiar names and hard-to-find brands. Think: Elizabeth Arden. Think: Caudalie. Think: REN. Think L’Occitane (whose Immortelle Divine Cream did s well with our anti-ageing testers.) And the list goes on: Morocconoil, Bliss, Decléor…
And there are many, many more: for some highlights, scroll down and remember that these are brands on which you can take advantage of a specially-negotiated 10% discount when you visit from this site, just because you’re a Beauty Bible reader. (This applies to their ‘brother’ site www.mankind.co.uk, too.) All you need to do is add the code BEAUTYBIBLE at checkout, and they’ll take care of the rest.
We’ll regularly be sharing our favourite discoveries on the Beauty Expert site – which this edition means starting (yes, really) to think about spring…
Before trialling this for our book The Anti-Ageing Beauty Bible, we did question whether cleansers could have age-defying benefits – but our testers loved, loved, loved it (awarding a stellar 9.2/10 marks). ‘I look forward to the ritual of using it: skin feels so soft and velvety after that it makes you feel uplifted and good about yourself.’ What can we add to that tester’s comment, except to say that it’s packed with morninga seed peptides, ‘super-berry’ acai and burdock, plus skin-nurturing shea butter.
Yes, we’re B-I-G fans of body-brushing – but not everyone likes to stand there in the bathroom whisking away at their thighs every morning. Massaging ‘trouble zones’, though, really is the best way to get stubborn cellulite on the move – so this is a great alternative to a brush, for use in the bath or shower. Create from rubber, it wakes up circulation in cellulite-prone zones, and stimulates lymph drainage to help fluid drain away. At the same time, it ‘preps’ skin for any orange-peel-busting treatment that you apply afterwards. (And do, do – because massage is only ever half the story.)
Scared of peels? Don’t be, in this case: it’s gentle enough that even we’ve used it to good, exfoliating, skin-brightening effect. We’re massive fans of Elemental Herbology’s skincare, and this is a fave rave: a blend of apple serum, orange peel, tangerine, papaya enzyme and jojoba beads, powered by antioxidant vitamins A, C, E, pomegranate and green tea, with a mineral ‘Chrono-energiser Complex’ (beauty-speak alert!), based on zinc, copper and magnesium. The nourishing base of pomegranate, argan, macadamia and olive oil makes for really comfortable application: just four minutes and you’re glowing (in a really good way).
We love argan-rich Moroccanoil products (with their amazing, ambery-sensual fragrance) – but are aware that for some fine-haired women, they’re just too heavy. (And others are simply put off by the ‘oil’ in the name, believing products may weigh hair down.) If you’re an oil-phobe, this is the answer: a wonderfully hydrating mask, which answers hair’s thirsty cries for help without in any way dragging it down, delivering shine and bounce.
So: one of our all-time favourite hand creams (as seen in smart loos the world over!) now comes in a flip-top, go-anywhere, sun-protective option (SPF15). Sinks in sublimely, leaving skin silky – but more importantly, we honestly think every hand cream ought to come armed with an SPF, because for anyone concerned about hand ageing it’s A Very Important Thing. (And we all should be concerned, because hands can give your age away faster than a sneaky peek at your passport…)
